"You can lead a child to books, but you can't make them read."

Jen Machajewswki

We're NOT Filling Up the MINI with Books.

I should have known if it was "cool" to the grown-ups, the kids would hate it. Not hate the "idea" but the administrative tasks were heavy in the "help me" department and adult supervision. I just wanted a list of the books the kids have read, so that when someone checks to see if they're educated... I can say "they read... alot!"

Alyssa's Reading

Book Title Author Comments
detail Book Martian Chronicles Ray Bradbury She stopped after 3 chapters because she said it was too depressing. I kept trying to reassure her that the ending pays off, but she continues to ignore it.
detail Book The Haunting of Freddy Dietlof Reiche She's actually read all in the series but one. Seems they can't keep them on the library shelves. Who would have thought...stories about a German hamster.
detail Book Watership Down Richard Adams She read several chapters. Claims to enjoy the story. Still rolls her eyes everytime I "remind" her to read it.

Book Title Author Comments
detail Book A Dog Called Kitty Bill Wallace He finished this book except skipped 2 chapters in the middle. Later he begged me to read them. I found out why... its 2 chapters of a rather gruesom and scary attack by wolves.
detail Book The Boxcar Children Gertrude I was so encouraged that he read this promptly after it being "assigned". He has since re-read it 4-5 times. He quite likes Benny.
detail Book Mouse and the Motorcycle Beverly Cleary He did start the book, but that's as much as I know. Again, the fact that I want him to read it seems to prevent that very action.
